BOGOR, KOMPAS — The 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, and several elites of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle or PDI-P attended the peak celebration of the 17th Anniversary of the Gerindra Party at the Sentul International Convention Center, West Java, on Saturday morning (15/2/2025).
At the political party agenda led by the 8th President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is the eldest son of Jokowi, was also present. In a separate line, Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of Jokowi who is also the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), part of the Koalisi Indonesia Maju (KIM) Plus supporting the Prabowo-Gibran administration, was also present. Additionally, the elected Governor of North Sumatra, Bobby Afif Nasution, who is Jokowi's son-in-law, was also in attendance.
Among Jokowi and his family members who were present that morning, only Bobby had officially become part of Gerindra. Bobby had become a cadre of the party. During the 17th anniversary celebration of Gerindra, Bobby was also one of the officials who read out the document "The Identity of the Gerindra Party".
During his speech, Prabowo specifically greeted Jokowi. Furthermore, he revealed that his election as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia was inseparable from the support of the political parties (parpol) members of KIM. Additionally, he was also supported by Jokowi.
"My success is because I am supported by Mr. Jokowi," Prabowo said, greeted by applause from Gerindra cadres. His choir and band immediately played a song with lyrics expressing gratitude to Jokowi.
Jokowi's support, said Prabowo, was not only during the 2024 presidential election. After being elected, Jokowi was said to have helped him prepare for the government transition.
For example, establishing the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) before Prabowo is inaugurated on October 20, 2024. BGN is an institution that plays a vital role in organizing the Free Nutritious Meals program, a priority program of Prabowo-Gibran.
"Therefore, yesterday's government transition went smoothly. Not only in Indonesia, it was the smoothest government transition in world history," Prabowo said.
In addition to Jokowi and his family, the general chairmen and political party leaders were also present at the celebration of Gerindra's 17th anniversary. Not only members of KIM Plus, but also the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the only political party outside the government. PDI-P was represented by PDI-P Deputy Treasurer Olly Dondokambey and PDI-P DPP Chairman Said Abdullah.
Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar said that his presence was not limited to representing support for the existence of Gerindra, Gerindra and Prabowo must be able to successfully bring Indonesia to become a developed country. Therefore, he also agreed that the current government coalition needs to be maintained until 2029.
In line with Muhaimin, the General Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono also said that entering the fourth month the government is indeed facing a number of dynamics and challenges. However, there are also opportunities that can be utilized to optimize the government's work.
"Of course, it requires strong cooperation and solidarity from all supporting political parties," said Agus Harimurti.
