JAKARTA, KOMPAS - The former tropical cyclone Senyar made landfall in Baharu Bay, Malaysia, on Thursday (27/11/2025) evening, while cyclone Koto is currently located in the South China Sea, northeast of Natuna. Nevertheless, heavy rain is likely to affect regions in Indonesia, particularly Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Riau.
The latest analysis from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) indicates that the tropical cyclone Senyar has decreased in intensity and has dissipated as a tropical cyclone, now categorized as a tropical low or low-pressure system since Thursday (27/11) at 07:00 WIB.
The Director of Public Meteorology at BMKG, Andri Ramdhani, stated that on Friday (28/11), at 06:00 WIB, the remnants of Cyclone Senyar experienced a weakening in intensity as it moved inland into Malaysia. "It is currently located in Selangor, Malaysia, moving towards the northeast," said Andri.
In the next 24 hours, the maximum wind speed is expected to decrease, but there is potential for a gradual increase as it moves over the South China Sea. "The potential for the remnants of tropical cyclone Senyar to regenerate into a tropical cyclone is categorized as low," he stated.

Previously, tropical cyclone Senyar developed from the tropical cyclone seed 95B, which began to be identified on November 21, 2025, at 01:00 WIB in the Malacca Strait, east of Aceh. This cyclone seed reached tropical cyclone intensity and was named tropical cyclone Senyar on November 26, 2025, at 07:00 WIB.
The potential for the former tropical cyclone Senyar to grow back into a tropical cyclone is in the low potential category.
On Thursday at 19:00 WIB, the circulation center of the former tropical cyclone Senyar has been detected around 3.6 degrees North Latitude, 100.9 degrees East Longitude, in the vicinity of Baharu Bay, Malaysia.
The Head of the Special Weather Prediction and Early Warning Team at BMKG, Miming Saepudin, reported that in the next 48 to 72 hours, the maximum wind speed is likely to remain persistent but has the potential to gradually increase along with movements in the South China Sea. There is a potential for it to regenerate into a tropical cyclone of a low category.
Even though its strength has diminished and it is currently located in Malaysia, the former tropical cyclone Senyar continues to have both direct and indirect impacts on extreme weather conditions and waters in Indonesia until Friday night. The effects include moderate to heavy rainfall in Aceh and Riau.
Heavy to very heavy rain is also potentially expected in the regions of West Sumatra and North Sumatra. Strong winds are likely to occur in the areas of North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
For the waters, the impact is characterized by moderate wave heights, ranging from 1.25 to 2.5 meters in the Malacca Strait, the waters of Sabang Banda Aceh, the waters of Aceh Besar - Meulaboh, the waters of Southwest Aceh - Simeulue, and the waters of Aceh Singkil Pulo Banyak.
The impact is also occurring in the waters south of Simeulue, the waters east of North Sumatra, west of North Sumatra, the waters of the Nias Islands, the waters of the Batu Islands, the waters of West Sumatra, the waters of Riau, the Karimun Islands, and the Batam Islands.
