Gerindra Anniversary, Cadres Reminded Not to Betray the People

JAKARTA, KOMPAS – On the momentum of Gerindra's 17th anniversary which falls today (6/2/2025), party cadres are reminded not to betray the trust of the people who have appointed Gerindra General Chair Prabowo Subianto as President. Not only that, cadres are asked not to be arrogant after the victory achieved in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Gerindra Secretary General Ahmad Muzani in his welcoming speech at the celebration of Gerindra's 17th Anniversary at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (6/2/2025), reminded party cadres to remain with the people.

He reminded that the election of Gerindra General Chairman Prabowo Subianto as President in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) was due to the people's trust. That trust must be repaid with work for the people, not betraying the people. The message that Prabowo has also repeatedly conveyed, is requested to be truly implemented.

Cadres are among those asked to move in line with Prabowo's commitment as President to eradicate poverty and utilize natural resources for the prosperity of the people.

Not only that, the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) also asked that victory in the 2024 Presidential Election not immediately make cadres arrogant.

“He (Prabowo) intends to become President for the Indonesian people and nation. So Prabowo's victory should not change our attitude into adigang, adigung, adiguno (bragging). He repeatedly reminded us of the struggle for the people. "Never shun, let alone betray the people," he said.

In addition to winning the 2024 presidential election, Gerindra's vote and DPR seat acquisition in the last election was the highest since the party first participated in the election in 2009. In the last election, Gerindra won 20,071,708 votes or was ranked third after PDI-P and Golkar. The DPR seat acquisition was 86 seats, also the third largest after PDI-P (110 seats) and Golkar (102 seats).

The Gerindra Anniversary Celebration at the Parliament Complex was attended not only by Gerindra cadres who are members of the MPR/DPR, but also by Gerindra Daily Chair Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet who are from Gerindra, such as Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Minister of Housing and Residential Areas Maruarar Sirait.

In addition to the tumpeng cutting by party leaders, in this anniversary celebration, the party also provided assistance to workers around the Parliament Complex and orphans. The corridors in the Nusantara II Building were also transformed into a number of stands filled by various Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises fostered by Gerindra.

When met after the celebration, Muzani stated that today's birthday celebrations were spread across various regions. However, there is a plan for the birthday celebration to be centered on a larger scale in Bogor, February 15, 2025. This event was preceded by a National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) which will involve the Gerindra Regional Leadership Council (DPD) throughout Indonesia.

This Rapimnas will listen to aspirations from DPDs, including support for Prabowo Subianto to return to being the party's leader. "Regarding support, I cannot preempt it because it is part of the aspirations conveyed by DPD administrators throughout Indonesia," said Muzani.

According to the results of the Gerindra Congress in 2020, Prabowo Subianto's term as Gerindra General Chair for this period will end this year. He has held the position since 2014.

Thursday afternoon or after the Gerindra Anniversary celebration at the Parliament Complex, a number of Gerindra politicians met Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta. They include the Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the DPR, Budisatrio Djiwandono. There is also Prabowo's former personal secretary who in the 2024 Pilkada is running as a candidate for mayor of Bandung, West Java, Dhani Wirianata.

After a closed meeting for about two hours, Budisatrio revealed that his arrival was aimed at reporting on the celebration of Gerindra's 17th anniversary held by the Gerindra Faction in the DPR. As the General Chairperson of Gerindra, Prabowo also reminded the cadres to continue fighting.

"We are grateful, the Gerindra Party which has been established for 17 years has received great trust from the people, and great responsibility. We must do the best for the people," said the Deputy Chairman of Gerindra.

Budisatrio continued, after the celebration held at the DPR, there are no plans to hold other agendas. The peak of the celebration of Gerindra's 17th anniversary will be held on February 15. However, he could not confirm the location and who would be invited to the event.

Birthday greetings for Gerindra were conveyed by various parties. One of them was from the National Awakening Party (PKB).

Chairman of the PKB Faction of the DPR, Jazilul Fawaid, stated that his party felt a sense of togetherness and were fellow fighters in the ranks of political parties supporting the Prabowo-Gibran Government.

According to Jazil, the commitment of support is proven both in the executive and legislative realms. This support not only oversees and succeeds government programs, but is also critical when there are programs that are not in line with the interests of the people.

"One of our supports from parliament is shown by overseeing priority national development programs. One of them is Free Nutritious Meals and food self-sufficiency which are the focus of Mr. Prabowo. The PKB faction will go all out to oversee it," he said.

The support, Jazil continued, is needed by the government amidst the uncertain global economic conditions. "All elements of the nation must support the development steps of the government. Under Mr. Prabowo's control, the people see that there is great hope that is displayed ahead," said Jazil.
