JAKARTA, KOMPAS - As of Wednesday (14/5/2025) early morning, several areas in Jakarta are still inundated due to heavy rain on Tuesday (13/5/2025) night. The water gradually receded on Wednesday morning. However, subsequent flooding is feared to occur as extreme weather conditions continue to pose a threat.
On Tuesday night, heavy rain struck the DKI Jakarta area. The intense rainfall triggered the Angke Hulu Post to reach Alert Level 3 at 8:00 PM WIB. Flooding submerged 14 neighborhood units (RT) and 3 road sections in Jakarta.
The Head of the Data, Information, and Communication Center of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta, Mohamad Yohan, stated on Wednesday (14/5/2025) that flooding was found at several points scattered throughout Jakarta.
In West Jakarta, there are two neighborhood units (RT) that are submerged, namely Meruya Utara, with a height reaching 100 centimeters (cm). Flooding also affected 1 RT in Srengseng Village, with a height of up to 40 cm. The impact of the flooding is still being felt until early Wednesday morning.
Flooding has also submerged 12 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta. In several areas of South Jakarta, water levels range from 30 cm to 80 cm. This is evident in 9 neighborhood units in Kuningan Barat Village.
"The flood there was caused by the overflowing of the Mampang and Krukut rivers after heavy rain fell," said Yohan.
As many as 3 RTs in Cilandak Timur Village were inundated with water ranging in height from 35 cm to 100 meters.
The road in the South Jakarta area that was flooded was Jalan Kemang Utara IX, Bangka Village, with a height of 40 cm.

Pondok Karya Street, Pela Mampang Village, South Jakarta, is also flooded with water levels reaching 60 cm. Meanwhile, Benda Bawah Raya Street in Cilandak Barat is inundated with water up to 40 cm.
The latest report compiled by the Jakarta BPBD stated that all residential areas and roads affected by flooding in Jakarta had receded by Wednesday morning.
"All the floodwaters in DKI Jakarta have receded," said Yohan in a written statement, Wednesday.
This condition is thanks to the efforts of each related agency in deploying its officers and equipment to handle a number of flood points.
"Officers deployed mobile pumps to suck up puddles and ensure the water channels were functioning properly," said Yohan.
The role of community elements is also involved in this effort, such as the neighborhood associations (RT/RW), the Community Early Warning Forum, and other community leaders.
However, the DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency has urged the public to remain cautious and vigilant regarding the potential for flooding due to extreme weather. This is because heavy rain and extreme weather still have the potential to occur.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that extreme weather in the form of heavy rain and strong winds will continue to occur in various regions of Indonesia.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) explained that heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is triggered by unstable atmospheric conditions during the transitional season. This instability encourages the formation of convective clouds that have the potential to produce rain with moderate to heavy intensity, accompanied by strong winds and lightning in a short period.
Several areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain include West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java and Banten.
On Tuesday night, flooding also struck the South Tangerang area. The South Tangerang Regional Disaster Management Agency recorded that the flood submerged 4 neighborhood units in Pakujaya Village, North Serpong District.
The Commander of the BPBD Task Force in South Tangerang City, Dian Wiriyawan, stated that flooding began to inundate several points in North Serpong at 19:30. "At its peak, the flood height reached 140 cm," he said.
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that extreme weather in the form of heavy rain and strong winds will continue to occur in various regions of Indonesia.
In addition to inundating residential areas, the flood also cut off access to the main road on Boulevard Graha Raya in Paku Jaya, North Serpong.
"The water level at that time reached 50 cm," he said.
The flood caused traffic to be paralyzed and caused congestion.
