The Spurs are ready to embark on a new era after ousting Daniel Levy as chairman. They have set targets to achieve greater success on the field.

Daniel Levy has departed, but his legacy remains eternal. He is the longest-serving chairman of a football club in the history of England. Having been the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur since 2001, Levy is better known for his successes off the pitch. After 24 years in office, Levy submitted his resignation on Friday (5/9/2025) early morning WIB. However, reports indicate that Levy was ousted by the majority shareholders of Spurs.
Levy is a controversial figure within Spurs. He can be both hated and liked at the same time. During his leadership, Spurs have developed from a business perspective, but have seen little achievement on the green pitch. Levy's cold touch has made Spurs profitable from a business standpoint. In the era of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and the financial issues affecting many clubs, Spurs have been well-managed thanks to Levy's acumen in negotiating and conducting business.
Former Spurs Manager, David Pleat, praised Levy's performance in overseeing the process of Spurs' relocation from White Hart Lane Stadium to the much larger Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. From there, Spurs' additional revenue increased as the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is frequently used as a venue for concerts and boxing matches.
"Achieving success in modern football without significant financial resources is very difficult, and what Tottenham has accomplished in the last two decades is truly remarkable," he said.
Unfavorable developments have emerged regarding achievements. Spurs have only won the English League Cup in 2008 and the Europa League last season. These trophies are certainly very few and do not correspond to the long duration of time that Levy has spent as chairman.

All of this happened because Levy's business instincts were more prominent than his football management. After his departure, Levy may be remembered as the most monumental chairman in Spurs' history. This is in line with his policy of investing heavily in the club's infrastructure rather than in player transfers. He built a magnificent stadium with world-class facilities that has now become Spurs' pride. In addition, there are also offices and a training center that are equally impressive located at Hotspur Way, Enfield, England.
Instead of being praised for his monumental achievements, Levy is more often overshadowed by criticism from Spurs supporters due to a lack of success. He has also been a source of instability within Spurs, marked by a high turnover of managers. In total, 12 managers have been dismissed while Spurs managed to reach 16 semifinals and seven finals.
"His journey has not always been easy. However, significant progress has been made. I will continue to support this club with great enthusiasm," said Levy in his farewell speech, as quoted by The Guardian.
Given the minimal achievements of the Spurs thus far, it is not surprising that the news regarding Levy's resignation has been welcomed with joy by Spurs supporters. They believe that this is the time for a new and brighter dawn for the Spurs.
As if hearing the sentiments of the fans, the Lewis family has finally made a strategic decision, namely to remove Levy. The club's official statement indicated that Levy resigned, but sources close to the Lewis family, as the owners of the ENIC Group, which holds 86.91 percent of the majority shares in Spurs, believe that this is the right time to make changes in order to achieve greater success in the future.
"The Lewis family generation supports this special football club and they want what the fans want, more victories and more often," said the source as reported by The Standard.

This explains why the Spurs made a series of drastic changes behind the scenes throughout the summer. At the beginning of the year, the Lewis family initiated a performance review of the club, conducted by the American firm, Gibb River. They interviewed several staff members about how the team's performance could be improved.
The moment coincided with the appointment of Peter Charrington to the club board in March. In April, Tottenham confirmed the arrival of Vinai Venkatesham as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing Donna-Maria Cullen, who had served for a long time.
In addition, the most controversial decision was the replacement of manager Ange Postecoglou with Thomas Frank. Many parties lamented the dismissal of Postecoglou considering his contribution in leading Spurs to win the Europa League.
"This is a new era of leadership for the club, both on and off the field. I am aware that many changes have occurred in recent months as we build a new foundation for the future," said Charrington, who replaced Levy.
