NU Ready to Contribute to Supporting Government Agenda

JAKARTA, KOMPAS - Nahdlatul Ulama or NU has expressed its readiness to contribute fully in supporting the programs of the government led by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The support is given so that the government's agendas provide benefits and are felt by the people.

The General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, stated that as it enters its second century, NU inherits a variety of rich and large-scale initiatives from its predecessors. Among them are approximately 26,000 pesantren, more than 10,000 madrasahs, hundreds of universities and hospitals, as well as numerous community services in various fields.

NU continues to improve comprehensive governance to maintain the integrity of these legacies. Through these various heritages, NU also continues to provide benefits to the community, nation, and state. In the past three years, NU has consolidated, enabling the development of a more orderly and cohesive organizational spirit with a stronger determination to serve everyone.

"With all that consolidation, we dare to say that we are ready to fully support the government's agendas and programs," said Yahya during the commemoration of the 102nd anniversary of NU at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/1/2025).

Present at the commemoration event were President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Rais 'Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar, Secretary General of PBNU Saifullah Yusuf, as well as several ministers of the Kabinet Merah Putih.

According to Yahya, the support provided by NU aims to ensure that the government's agendas bring benefits and are felt by the people. Moreover, NU has also understood President Prabowo's vision so that Nahdliyin members can contribute to realizing that vision.

"All of this is to help ensure that the benefits and advantages of these agendas reach and are felt by the people. We will continue to work together with the community for the benefit of Indonesia," said Gus Yahya.

Furthermore, he continued, NU has also collaborated with various ministries/agencies. Some of these include cooperation with the Ministry of Human Development and Culture, the National Nutrition Agency, Perum Bulog, the Ministry of Human Rights, the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers/Agency for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, the National Resilience Institute, as well as the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.

The cooperation was realized, among others, to make President Prabowo's flagship program, namely Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), a success. NU has formed an acceleration team for the MBG program and has started working with BGN to contribute to the success of the program.

"NU must not and never stop moving to build civilization with wisdom for society, nation, and humanity. We are determined to direct our energy to serve our beloved nation and country," said Gus Yahya.

Miftachul added, NU always fights with President Prabowo who always thinks about the common people and the poor. NU will work sincerely so that the quality of the nation's children increases.

"Our hope is to be able to eradicate poverty and produce the best and most established generations," he said.

President Prabowo also thanked NU for the support given to the Prabowo-Gibran government. According to the President, the government and NU have the same desire and determination for Indonesia to become a successful country. Because, the President wants Indonesia to become a successful country, not an ordinary country or even a failed country.

The President said that a successful country cannot be achieved without effort and hope like something that falls from the sky. To become a successful country, all parties must work hard. The key to success is unity, togetherness, harmony, and cooperation.

"And there NU plays an important role by representing the majority religious group. NU together with Muhammadiyah, Persis, and others represent the majority group but with moderation, coolness, mutual respect and appreciation, protecting all other religions," said the President.

Prabowo said, during the first 100 days of the government, he has repeatedly given warnings to a number of parties. Anyone who is stubborn and does not comply with the demands of the people who demand a clean government, will be prosecuted. In relation to this, the President has also repeatedly conveyed that all institutional apparatuses clean themselves before being cleaned by the President.

The President has also reminded that loyalty is only to the nation and the people. "If you are not loyal to the Indonesian people, if you obstruct policies for the Indonesian people, I will take action against you all," the President said.

When asked further about the code for the cabinet reshuffle, Prabowo neither confirmed nor denied it. According to him, his sentence for cleaning up the cabinet was very clear.

"We want the people to demand a clean and proper government, which works properly. So I want to uphold that. The interests are only for the nation and the people, there are no other interests. Those who do not want to work truly for the people, yes I will get rid of them," said Prabowo according to the event.
