JAKARTA, KOMPAS - President Prabowo Subianto has finally relaxed the regulations on the sale of 3-kilogram LPG. Retailers can resume selling while registering to become official sub-distributors.
"Today, retailers can resume selling to prevent difficulties in accessing LPG in the community. At the same time, retailers are asked to register in the MAP application to be listed as official sub-distributors," said the Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, in a written statement on Tuesday (4/2/2025).
When asked further about when the President decided on this matter, Hasan asked the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, to answer this. He also refused to comment on the reasons for this policy change.
Nevertheless, he added, Pertamina will encourage retailers to register as official sub-distributors. This step is expected to protect the people as the end consumers.
President Prabowo has instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to reactivate retailers selling 3-kilogram LPG while regulating retailers to become sub-distributors partially, then processing administration and other matters so that as sub-distributors, the price of LPG sold to the public is not too expensive.

"By being officially registered in the MAP application as a sub-base, the price at the consumer level can be maintained. Likewise, the distribution of 3 kg LPG gas can be channeled to the hands of the people who truly deserve it," said Hasan.
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party faction, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, when met at the Parliament Complex on Tuesday, said a similar thing. He emphasized that the President has instructed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to reopen the sale of 3-kilogram LPG gas by retailers.
Simultaneously, Dasco, who is also the Daily Chairman of Gerindra, stated that efforts to regulate retailers to make them partial sub-agents will also continue. Administrative processes and other measures will also be carried out to ensure that the price of LPG sold by retailers to the public remains affordable.

In recent days, the scarcity of 3 kg LPG has occurred due to the government's policy of prohibiting sales at retailers. The government encourages sales to be carried out through official bases. Traders are also encouraged to register themselves as official bases.
However, before the registration opportunity was completed, the ban was already in effect and 3 kg LPG was difficult to obtain. Queues of residents in various regions to get 3 kg LPG occurred.
