The identity of Man United as a top-tier team is beginning to resurface. Three consecutive victories in the league have been achieved by the "Red Devils" since February 2024.

MANCHESTER, SATURDAY — Gradually and without realizing it, Manchester United has begun to move up the top of the standings in the 2025-2026 English League. The third consecutive victory, achieved by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2 on Saturday (25/10/2025) at Old Trafford Stadium, has helped the "Red Devils" break into the upper ranks.
MU's four goals were scored by Matheus Cunha and Casemiro in the 24th and 34th minutes, respectively. Bryan Mbeumo then secured the win with braces in the 61st and 90+6th minutes. Mbeumo's brace ended Bighton's comeback hopes, with goals from Danny Wellbeck (74') and Charalampos Kostoulas (90+2').
The inconsistency of the teams at the top provides a distinct advantage for Bruno Fernandes and his colleagues. After completing the ninth match, Manchester United has collected 16 points, placing them in fourth position. They have temporarily matched the points total of their city rival, Manchester City, and reduced the point gap to three points from the league leader, Arsenal.
Without paying attention to the situation of Arsenal and City, who have just completed their ninth-week match on Sunday (26/10/2025), Manchester United's journey shows that they have found the key to achieving victory week after week.
Three consecutive victories mark the first record under the regime of Ruben Amorim. In fact, MU has been waiting since February 2024 to achieve a series of positive results in three English Premier League matches.
If we observe the remaining matches of the ninth week, the worst position for MU would be dropping to sixth place, provided that Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur win this Sunday. If both teams fail to win, MU will remain in fourth place, which is the best ranking achievement alongside Amorim.

Mbeumo said his team played well. He added that the win was more important, even though it was marred by two goals from Brighton.
"The hard work we put in, the effort we put in, and the togetherness we put in on the pitch are the keys to this positive momentum. Once we've executed the game plan, we'll try to put in our best performance," Mbeumo told Sky Sports.
After successfully scoring the second and third goals at Old Trafford, Mbeumo did not hesitate to assist MU with all his might in improving their position in the league standings.
"I enjoy challenges. That is the reason I came to this great club, and we want to fight for the best position," continued Mbeumo, who was recruited from Brentford at the beginning of this season.
The collection of four goals and one assist from Mbeumo also helps Manchester United begin to forget their latent issues due to the absence of a goal-hungry striker.
On the other hand, Cunha was finally able to score his debut goal for MU in the English Premier League. He had to wait patiently for seven matches to celebrate a goal while wearing the MU jersey.
"This feeling is hard to explain. I have worked very hard to be in this moment. Scoring my first goal at Old Trafford has indeed been a big dream for me, but the victory is far more important," said Cunha.

Similar to Mbeumo, Cunha also cautioned that being in fourth place should not be overly exaggerated. He wants the members of the Red Devils squad to consider rising to fourth place as something of great value.
"We must perceive this position as something normal. A club as large as (MU) needs to be in this position. I hope we can continue this positive record to end the season in the position we desire," said Cunha.
Cunha, like all MU players, is determined to make the top four zone a permanent place this season. This situation will help MU no longer be underestimated in the competition for the top positions in the English League.
Manchester United were able to convert their four big chances into goals. Their attacks in Brighton's defensive zone were very effective.
Manchester United's four goals exceeded the 1.13 expected goals (xG) recorded in Saturday's performance at Old Trafford. This demonstrated the effectiveness of the attack led by Mbeumo, Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko.
The Red Devils dominated the scoreboard, although in terms of statistical records they were more inferior. They only had 43 percent possession and produced 13 shots. Brighton, on the other hand, was more dominant in ball control with 57 percent and created 17 shots.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler believes that all Manchester United players are performing better due to a boost in confidence after achieving two consecutive victories, including a 2-1 win at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium last week.
"I think they have more confidence. The atmosphere (at Old Trafford) is very loud. The supporters are very noisy, but that is also because our mistakes give them the 'spice' for our blunders," said Hurzeler.
He added, "In the end, the match regarding execution and our execution was not right today. We made too many simple mistakes. We need to improve by returning to the training ground to execute every pass and touch more seriously."
