The Indonesian women's national football team is opening the door wide for players to showcase their abilities in order to represent the country. Both senior and junior players, as well as familiar and new faces, are called up for selection in the initial stages of the national training camp.
After 50 female football players were selected since January 15, 2025, the national team called up 39 players to participate in the next screening phase at the initial stage of the national training camp. PSSI released the names of these players on Wednesday (2/5/2025).
Among those names, there are several new faces such as junior players Jazlyn Kayla Firyal and Shifana Rizka Nadhifa who were called up for selection for the first time. Some other players have been called up for selection before, and there are also those who have strengthened the national team at various age group levels, one of whom is Claudia Scheunemann.
When met in Kudus, Central Java, at the end of last January, Claudia expressed her enthusiasm for undergoing centralized training. This is because it marks the initial step in preparing for the 2025 ASEAN Women's Championship, which is planned to be held in Indonesia next June.

In addition, there are also familiar faces with extensive experience defending the women's national team. Mentioning Shafira Ika, Helsya Maesyaroh, and Vivi Oktavia Riski.
The name Vivi had disappeared from the national team squad after she last represented Garuda Pertiwi in 2022. Vivi then came under the radar of coach Satoru Mochizuki after the Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) 2024. She subsequently joined the women's national team and helped them win the 2024 AFF Women's Championship.
As mentioned by a member of the PSSI Executive Committee responsible for the women's national team, Vivin Cahyani, players have been called up for the senior national team selection as well as the under-16 and under-20 age groups. They are a mix of players who have been called up previously and players who emerged during the Pertiwi Cup at the end of 2024.
"There are also players who have played in the futsal league. Because we are in one big house, namely PSSI, so we also don't want to compartmentalize. I know their talents. It would be very selfish if they have the ability, but we don't give them the opportunity," said Vivin.

Suciana Yuliani, who is on the list of players called up to the national team, is also an old face. Suciana was first called up to the national team in 2022 for a friendly match against the Singapore national team. However, her name has been known for a longer time because she has played for the women's futsal team since 2013.
Several other players, such as Sheva Imut and Viny Silfianus, also played futsal last year. In order to maintain the touch of the ball in the absence of a soccer league, the two players who have strengthened the national team many times finally played professionally in the women's futsal league which is consistently held.
Suciana's name is back on the radar of the national football team after playing in the senior Pertiwi Cup. She strengthens Adhyaksa FC which represents Central Kalimantan.
Vivin said, during the Pertiwi Cup event, there was a talent scout team sent by PSSI to find new players. There were several players who caught Mochizuki's attention so they were given the opportunity for selection.
"To narrow it down to how many, that's up to coach Mochi to decide. As for us, we just provide a place and opportunity for children who have performed well. We provide equal opportunities for every child," he said.
