BANDUNG, KOMPAS - The spatial planning conditions in West Java, which potentially do not align with the surrounding natural conditions, will soon be evaluated. In the near future, the West Java Provincial Government will meet with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency to discuss this matter.
"Next Tuesday, we will meet with the central government regarding the spatial planning evaluation, particularly the Ministry of ATR/BPN (Agrarian Spatial Planning/National Land Agency)," said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi in Bandung, Wednesday (5/3/2025).
Dedi conveyed this in response to the natural disasters that have occurred in West Java in recent days. Floods have struck the City and Regency of Bekasi, while landslides have occurred in the City and Regency of Bogor.
Dedi said that handling of affected residents such as evacuation to the fulfillment of basic needs is still being carried out. However, future evaluations must also be considered so that all parties do not repeat the wrong policies. All types of permits, he said, must be made with the will of nature and in accordance with the principles of environmental management.
"Cibeet Dam will be built in Bogor as a water catchment area to minimize flooding in Bekasi. However, we also hope that residents are wise to the environment. Starting from not blocking water channels to not throwing garbage into the river," said Dedi.
Hadi Rahmat, a Public Relations Officer of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), said that the landslide in Bogor City occurred in five sub-districts and 19 villages. The landslide affected 150 people, damaged 12 houses and threatened 17 other houses.
In Bogor Regency, landslides occurred in 11 sub-districts and 24 villages. The disaster affected 152 people and displaced 43 people.
Related to this, since Tuesday (4/3/2025), the Bogor City Government has set a disaster emergency alert status. The status was set for 30 days, from 4 March to 2 April 2025.
Meanwhile, according to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), flooding in Bekasi City inundated 25 sub-districts in 12 districts. The affected population was recorded at 61,233 people.
Meanwhile, in Bekasi Regency, floods affected 51,320 people in 41 villages and 14 sub-districts. So far, the Bekasi Regency Government has set a wet hydrometeorological disaster alert status since last year. The period is between October 21, 2024 to May 31, 2025.
