JAKARTA, KOMPAS – The government is collaborating with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) to organize the Free Motorcycle Homecoming program, or "Motis," for Eid 2025. KAI will operate along the northern route from Jakarta to Semarang, Central Java, as well as the central route from Jakarta to Lempuyangan, Yogyakarta.
By 2025, at least 7,424 motorcycles and 16,960 passengers will be transported by train under the Free Motorcycle program. This program, which runs for eight days, will be available for departure schedules from March 26-29, 2025, as well as return trips from April 4-6, 2025.
The Motis 2025 program serves two main routes. First, the northern route starts from Jakarta Gudang-Pasar Senen (passengers)-Bekasi (passengers)-Cirebon Prujakan-Tegal-Pekalongan-Semarang Tawang. Second, the central route will pass through Jakarta Gudang-Pasar Senen (passengers)-Cirebon Prujakan-Kroya-Gombong-Kebumen-Kutoarjo-Lempuyangan.
"We invite the public to take advantage of the Motis Program as a safer and more efficient alternative for homecoming travel. Travelers can enjoy a more comfortable journey without having to face the risk of road accidents caused by long-distance travel on motorcycles," said Vice President of Public Relations KAI, Anne Purba, in her written statement in Jakarta, Monday (10/3/2025).
Interested people can register online through the http://nusantara.kemenhub.go.id/ site or directly at Bekasi Station, Depok Baru Station, Tangerang Station, and Cibinong Station. Each Motis participant will get two tickets and one ticket for children under three years old (infant). Ticket facilities are provided free of charge.

To register for the Motis program, the public is required to meet additional requirements. The conditions that must be fulfilled include possessing an Identity Card (KTP), a Driver's License (SIM), a valid Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK), and a motorcycle with an engine capacity below 200 cc. Further information can be accessed through the official Instagram accounts of the Directorate General of Railways at @ditjenperkeretaapian and @motis.djka.
Anne stated that the trains used in the 2025 Motis Program are economy-class trains with a subsidy scheme or public service obligation (PSO). The public will not be charged additional fees.
Separately, the Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, stated that the Motis Program encourages the public to travel using safer modes of transportation. Instead of undertaking long journeys by motorcycle, people can utilize trains. Personal motorcycles can be transported to their homecoming destinations by train.
"This Motis is a program that we routinely hold as a form of government support and presence for the community who will carry out the Eid homecoming, more cheaply, safely, comfortably, and safely," said Risal.

Both the northern and central routes have different daily Motis quotas. For the northern route, KAI will transport 232 motorcycles and 530 passengers. The daily transport for the central route is greater with 696 motorcycles and 1,590 passengers.
"With this subsidy, it can accommodate the mobility needs of the community which can be accessed easily, safely, and comfortably with economy train services that can be enjoyed for free," said Risal.
At the same time, KAI is trying to equalize affordable transportation access for people in Sumatra. The addition of this train also anticipates a surge in community mobility during the upcoming Eid.
KAI will send 22 train units from Java to Sumatra, precisely to Regional Division (Divre) II in Padang, West Sumatra and Divre IV in Tanjungkarang, Lampung. The total load of the trains to be transported by KAI Logistik reaches 836 tons.
The shipment will be carried out in stages since March 1, 2025, via the Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) to Rejosari Station, Lampung, and Bukit Putus Station, Padang. The company is targeting completion of the shipment on March 17, 2025.

Anne said, Divre IV Tanjungkarang will receive seven units of economy trains (K3) and three units of power-generating dining trains (KMP2/MP2). Meanwhile, Divre II West Sumatra will receive 10 units of economy trains (K3) and two units of power-generating dining trains (KMP3).
He ensured that the entire transportation process was carried out with high safety standards, in order to maintain the condition of the facilities being sent. Upon arrival in Padang and Lampung, all trains will undergo a thorough inspection before operating.
The additional trains in Divre II West Sumatra will increase the frequency of the Pariaman Ekspres Optional train on the Pauhlima (Padang) – Naras (Pariaman) round trip (pp) route. New services will also be available on the Kayu Tanam – Padang (pp) route.
In Divre IV Tanjungkarang, additional trains will be used to extend the Kuala Stabas and Rajabasa trains. It is hoped that the passenger transport capacity will increase.
"KAI is committed to providing economical and quality transportation services for the community. The presence of this additional suggestion will increase passenger transport capacity and ensure better service, especially during the Lebaran homecoming season," said Anne.
