It is not without reason that Spurs are so eager for Frank, to the extent of being willing to dismiss Ange Postecoglou, who brought significant success to the club. Frank's efficiency dazzles Spurs.

Not long after dismissing Ange Postecoglou, the executives of Tottenham Hotspur announced Thomas Frank as the successor. The former Brentford manager has reportedly been a long-term target for Spurs. There are at least two main reasons that led Spurs to choose Frank, one of which is related to efficiency in the player transfer market.
In an official statement on the Spurs website, Frank is regarded as having extensive experience in English football. The Danish manager joined Brentford in 2016 as an assistant manager. His career continued to rise until he was entrusted with the role of manager. This has made him one of the longest-serving managers in England.
Frank's contract with Brentford still runs until June 2027. Therefore, Spurs must spend no less than 12 million euros (approximately IDR 225 billion) to recruit Frank.
"During his time at Brentford, he transformed the club, elevating them from the Championship to a stable Premier League team and consistently and significantly exceeding expectations for an extended period," stated Spurs on Friday (13/6/2025) early morning WIB.
In order to bring in Frank, Spurs were willing to terminate their collaboration with Ange Postecoglou, who successfully delivered the Europa League trophy. This achievement ended Spurs' 17-year drought for a trophy. Many criticized the way Spurs treated Postecoglou, but Frank's allure was too compelling to overlook.

Under Postecoglou's guidance, Spurs have indeed succeeded in Europe. However, "The Lilywhites" are struggling in the English League. Ending the season in 17th place, just one level above the relegation zone, is not something that the club's executives can accept. This marks the lowest position for Spurs in the history of the Premier League. The previous lowest position for Spurs was finishing in 15th place in the 1993-1994 season.
The recruitment of Frank can be interpreted as the desire of Spurs' top officials to present a more solid performance in the English League. Frank is one of the most successful managers in the English League, based on the points earned since 2021.
Based on data from Transermarkt, Frank ranks among the top five managers with the highest winning points, totaling 200 points. He is positioned below Pep Guardiola, who has amassed 344 points, Mikel Arteta (316 points), Juergen Klopp (241 points), and Eddie Howe (241 points).
He (Frank) has a proven track record in player and squad development, and we hope he will lead the team as we prepare for the upcoming season.
Frank's achievements seem rather ordinary. However, it is important to note that Frank has managed to align himself with managers equipped with substantial financial power. Since becoming the Manager of Brentford in 2018, Frank has only spent a total of 112 million euros on player recruitment. This amount places Brentford in 19th position out of 20 clubs in terms of player spending.
Brentford's expenditures are lower than those of Ipswich Town (€115 million), Sheffield United (€117 million), and Southampton (€143 million), yet they have been far more successful on the field. The indications of their success are clear, as Brentford managed to finish in a significantly better position compared to the three clubs this season. While Brentford nearly broke into the European zone after concluding the season in 10th place, Ipswich and Southampton had to endure the bitterness of relegation.

Efficiency in the transfer market is undeniably one of the factors attracting Spurs' interest in Frank. With a squad that is "mediocre," he has built a solid team capable of competing with clubs that spend significantly more in the transfer market. One of Frank's commendable strengths is his ability to unlock the potential of his players.
With a more limited budget, he was able to compete with wealthy clubs; one can only imagine what it would be like for Frank to lead Spurs, which is financially stronger than Brentford. This advantage is what Spurs executives are targeting in their decision to bring in Frank.
In addition to being highly efficient, another advantage of Frank is his ability to maximize young players. One way to measure this achievement is by observing the extent to which the market value of Brentford players has increased under Frank's guidance. Brentford ranks among the top four clubs with a significant increase in the total combined market value of its players. The increase in players' market value is calculated from the time they joined the club until now.
The total increase in player value for Brentford reached 136 million euros or 33 percent. Brentford is ranked below Crystal Palace, which managed to increase its players' market value by 43 percent. In second place is Aston Villa (38 percent). Ipswich occupies the fourth position (36 percent). Arsenal and Brentford are tied for fourth place, both recording a market price value increase percentage of 33 percent.
The player with the most significant increase in market value at Brentford is Bryan Mbeumo. The price of the 25-year-old forward has risen to 51.5 million euros. When he joined Brentford in 2019, Mbeumo's market value was only 3.5 million euros.

"He (Frank) has a proven track record in player and squad development, and we hope he will lead the team as we prepare for the upcoming season," wrote Spurs in their announcement.
Frank's strength in developing players aligns with Spurs' recent transfer vision. The transfer policy of Spurs has changed since Johan Lange was appointed as the Director of Football in November 2023. Spurs are currently more focused on recruiting players under the age of 23, including Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Wilson Odobert.
Considering the two advantages of Frank that have the potential to bring Spurs back to prominence in England, the unpopular decision to dismiss Postecoglou seems quite justified.
