PHILADELPHIA, SATURDAY — A positive result marks a new beginning for Igor Tudor with Juventus in the 2025 Club World Cup. Tudor is confident that Juventus is heading in the right direction. This optimism will be tested in the decisive match against Wydad Casablanca.
Juventus will face the Moroccan representative in the continuation of the Group G qualifiers at Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, United States, on Sunday (22/6/2025) at 23:00 WIB. A victory will pave the way for Juventus to secure a ticket to the round of 16.
"The Great Lady" commenced the 2025 Club World Cup, the first competitive event for Coach Igor Tudor following the confirmation of his contract until 2027, with a positive outcome. They convincingly won 5-0 against the representative from the United Arab Emirates, Al-Ain, achieving a goal difference of at least five goals in international competition for the first time in 12 years since facing Olympiakos (7-0) on December 10, 2003.
This phenomenal victory has instilled optimism in Igor Tudor. According to the coach, who was previously appointed as the interim coach until the end of the 2024-2025 season after Juventus dismissed Thiago Motta last March, his players possess an extraordinary energy and passion to work hard for one another.
"They ran for one another. I could really feel it, and I think the players felt it among themselves as well," said Tudor.

"We are heading in the right direction. There are always things that you need to improve... a team is a living entity, never the same from day to day," he stated again.
It is reasonable that Tudor appears so optimistic. During his tenure as interim coach, Tudor did not always achieve good results. However, the 47-year-old coach was able to guide the club to fourth place in Serie A, securing a ticket to the Champions League for the upcoming season.
As the players continue to understand his tactical approach to the game, Tudor is confident that their performance will improve together. The match against Al-Ain also demonstrated how Juve is beginning to find its best form of play.
Their attacks were smooth and intense. This was driven by their success in quickly regaining possession of the ball, an additional player in building the attack, and flexibility in executing roles. The attacking line was effective, the movement fluid, and the midfield was also strong in defense and in constructing attacks.
The success of Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, who provided two assists, can serve as evidence of this effectiveness. A similar contribution from defender Alberto Costa also demonstrates further proof.
That positive start has placed Juventus at the top of the temporary Group G standings with three points. They lead on goal difference over Manchester City in second place, who have the same points after winning 2-0 against Wydad Casablanca.
If they wish to advance to the knockout stage of the Club World Cup, Juventus must defeat Wydad and Al-Ain must not defeat Manchester City. Consequently, a victory over Wydad is crucial to facilitate that path. This match will also serve as a test for Tudor's optimism regarding his team.
Opta, through supercomputer simulation calculations, predicts that Juventus will defeat Wydad in the match. Manuel Locatelli and his teammates won 76.5 percent of the pre-match simulations.
Records also favor Juventus as a European team. In the three previous matches against teams from Europe in the Club World Cup, Wydad has always lost. In addition to Manchester City in the 2025 edition, the team nicknamed "Wydad of the Nation" lost to Real Madrid in the 2000 edition and Bayern Munich in 2013.
Nevertheless, Wydad also needs a victory to secure their first three points and open up the opportunity to advance to the knockout stage. Currently, Wydad is in third place after losing to Manchester City.
This team should also be taken seriously because, despite being down 0-2 in the first half and only having 32.5 percent possession against City, Wydad managed to record 12 shots. "I believe we have represented Morocco and Wydad fans well in the match against Manchester City. We must continue this effort by seeking a positive result against Juventus in the next match," said Wydad player, Fahd Moufi.
