Meanwhile, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka monitored the Free Nutritious Meal program in Surabaya City, East Java Province.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed the surprise inspection to Kompas on Monday morning. "This morning, I suddenly wanted to go to a school around Bogor City to check on the free nutritious meals and their kitchens," he told reporters in writing.
This visit was to SD Negeri Kedung Jaya 1 and SDN Kedung Jaya 2, Tanah Sareal District, Bogor City, West Java Province. The kitchen visited was the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) Tanah Sareal, Bogor City.
Upon arriving at the school, the surrounding residents also welcomed them. Not only was the President called out, but the residents also shouted the name "Mayor Teddy," the Cabinet Secretary who always accompanies President Prabowo.
Teachers and students were also enthusiastic. President Prabowo responded to the greetings and handshakes of the students who seemed eager to shake hands with him.
The President briefly observed piles of stainless steel food containers filled with food ready to be distributed. The Head of State then entered several classrooms to witness the process of distributing food to students. “Enjoy your meal,” said the President.
There is also a class that has finished lunch and continued the teaching and learning process. President Prabowo also inspected and even sat at the teacher's desk and looked at the students' textbooks.
Not only that, Prabowo also interacted with the students, engaging in conversations and question-and-answer sessions. He also conveyed the motivation about the importance of studying earnestly.
The teachers also invited President Prabowo to take a photo together, as did the students. Some even gave heart-shaped pillows as gifts to the President, and some asked Prabowo to sign their shoes. The President then gave his autograph to one or two students.
The President then proceeded to the Tanah Sareal Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG). In this kitchen, food for the MBG program is prepared. In addition to observing various food ingredients being cooked, the President also had the opportunity to interact with the cooks who are responsible for preparing and distributing food every day.
Meanwhile in Surabaya, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited SMA Negeri 10 Surabaya in Wonocolo District, Surabaya City. Arriving in Surabaya at around 11.00 WIB, the Vice President immediately went to the school and monitored the MBG distribution process.
The MBG program is not only limited to free meals at school, but is part of the government's grand strategy to improve the quality of education and health of Indonesian children. Therefore, MBG recipients consist of school children, toddlers, as well as breastfeeding and pregnant mothers.
In 2025, the government is targeting 19.47 million recipients in stages. In the first three months, the target number of recipients is at least three million people. For 2025, the budget allocation prepared is IDR 71 trillion. One of the goals of the budget cuts carried out by President Prabowo with Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 is to increase the MBG allocation.
