BANDUNG, KOMPAS - Flood survivors in the City and Regency of Bekasi, West Java, still require substantial supplies of drinking water, ready-to-eat meals, and specific needs for women. Meanwhile, over the past two days, two fatalities have been reported due to being swept away by floods in Bogor and Karawang, West Java.
Based on data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java, more than 52,000 residents have been affected by flooding in Bekasi City and Regency. The water level ranges from 50 to 350 centimeters. In addition to residential areas, public facilities such as hospitals have also been submerged.
The Acting Head of the West Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Anne Hermadiane Adnan, in Bekasi on Wednesday (5/3/2025), claimed that various handling efforts have been carried out in collaboration with the local BPBD and volunteers. These efforts include evacuating residents, establishing emergency shelters, and providing logistics.

However, Anne stated that several urgent needs still require immediate fulfillment. She mentioned these urgent needs include drinking water, ready-to-eat food, baby supplies, special needs for women, blankets, and sleeping mats.
In addition to Bekasi, floods are still inundating Karawang. The areas affected by the floods include Telukjambe Barat District, Karawang Barat District, and Pangkalan District.
A total of 10,180 people were affected, and 375 residents evacuated to several locations in Karangligar Village, Telukjambe Barat District. After previously reaching a height of two meters, the floodwaters are now gradually receding.
Meanwhile, a series of disasters in Bogor and Karawang over the past three days have claimed two lives. In Karawang, the Rescue Team of the Karawang SAR Alert Unit discovered the body of Amanillah Bayu Pratama (14).
Previously, he was swept away by floods in Mulya Jaya Village, Telukjambe Barat District, Wednesday (3/5/2025). Bayu, who comes from Purbalingga, Central Java, is registered as a student at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Teluk Jambe Barat.

Karawang SAR Alert Rescue Unit Team Commander Frengky Jonathan said the victim was previously reported missing on Tuesday (3/4) afternoon. He was swept away with his two friends in the Cibeet River.
"Two of the victim's friends survived. Meanwhile, the victim was found about 1.5 kilometers from the scene," said Frengky.
Previously, the overflowing Cisarua River claimed lives in Bogor Regency. Asep Maulana (59), a resident of Citeko Village, Cisarua District, died, swept away by the sudden flood. On Monday (3/3/2025) morning, his body was found at the Ciawi Dam.
Asep was swept away by the flood after successfully saving his wife. Ironically, Asep failed to save himself.
A series of disasters in Bogor and Karawang in the last three days have claimed two lives.
